The course is made up of six components.
Philosophy The course provides students with an extensive understanding of the theories required to practise homeopathy effectively and successfully.
Materia Medica Materia Medica is the study of the remedies used by the homeopathic practitioner. Remedies are made mainly from plants, minerals and metals. Currently there are over 2,500 remedies in use, which have been developed over the last two centuries.
Medical Sciences Although homeopaths practise a different form of medicine, it is still important to understand how conventional medicine and the body works. We therefore study anatomy and physiology, as well as disease and pathology, throughout the course.
Clinical Education Clinical education runs throughout the course. In the first year, students are introduced to the techniques used in case taking. These include the Repertory (a book of symptoms relating to diseases) and the Materia Medica. Attendance at the College’s clinics starts in the second year. Initially, students observe consultations with patients and participate in discussions and full analysis of the case. As students gain experience, they will begin to take cases themselves, under supervision.
Supervised Case Programme Students are required to take a minimum of ten cases. These and all other cases taken during the four years are fully supervised.
Other subjects Each year, we incorporate subjects that are useful in a homeopathic practice. These can include nutrition, flower remedies, kinesiology and others.
